Responsibilities:
A Wellness Place has an immediate opening for a Scheduler/Secretary in the Cherokee location.
A Wellness Place focuses on specialty health care products for men and women.
Our certified fitters measure and fit quality compression garments for vascular, lipedema, and lymphedema patients, as well as for post-mastectomy patients.
The scheduler/secretary position is key to the department and is the first point of contact for our patients and referring practices.
Position DescriptionAnswer the phone, greet patients, performs computerized scheduling, manages prescriptions by calling patients and making appointments, performs detailed registration function for all scheduled and walk-in patients, completes insurance verification and follows through prior to patient appointment, contact referring physicians for Rx info as needed, enters data into point of service program, make chart packs, and other duties as assigned.
The A Wellness Place Scheduler/Secretary will also perform:
Schedules appointments and monitors daily schedule of patient appointments.
Participates in daily opening and closing procedures, including record keeping and point of sale database entries/updates.
Conducts sales and cash register transactions accurately and efficiently according to departmental policies.
Handles multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining customer satisfaction.
Conduct screening for Financial Assistance Applications.
Provides patient education regarding the general use of clinical products not requiring a prescription.
Maintains a clean, neat and safe environment, in compliance with infection control and other applicable policies.
May witness patient signature of consent forms.
Reviews, verifies, and performs accurate data entry of patient demographics, insurance coding, and medical information to ensure integrity of records and minimize claims denials if applicable.
Educates patients and maintains compliance with Medicare Secondary Payer guidelines through accurate completion of questionnaire for every appropriate patient encounter, and with HIPAA privacy regulations and acknowledgements if applicable.
Current BLS card (CPR).
Qualifications:
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED Medical terminology One (1) year previous medical related clerical or related experience or an associates degree.
Good communication skills Typing requirements vary by department; see requisition for requirements.
Fundamental knowledge and skill in utilization of computer application.
Level of proficiency in the use and application of MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) varies by department, see requisition for requirements.
CPR certification may be required by department; see requisition for requirement.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED Three (3) years previous experience in admissions or a scheduling environment.
